UNITE IN MAY FOR THE HOPE OF A HEALTHIER WAY
The first Annual Look Beyond Addiction Awareness Walk was held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2009 and we would like to thank everyone who participated and shared the first steps toward making a difference in our community. It was only the beginning of a long journey together.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next this year, and hope you will check this site throughout the year for updates on the development of the Look Beyond Addiction Foundation and plans for future events. We are excited with the success of the first and second WALK FOR AWARENESS and the support we received.
The third annual Look Beyond Addiction Walk will be held in Sidney, BC at the Mary Winspear Centre on SUNDAY, MAY 1st, 2011. A portion of 2010 net proceeds has gone to help support the Crystal Meth Society.
The third awareness walk will be bigger and better on May 1st 2011 at the Winspear
Centre. We look forward to seeing you and your friends again next year!

We will draw for donated door prizes, key chains and gift certificates donated by our sponsors at the short rally at the center.
The 2.5 KM walk begins at 11 AM with an optional victory lap to follow. PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR.

A SPECIAL NOTE : TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SUFFERED THE LOSS OF LOVED ONES THROUGH DRUG ADDICTION. WE KNOW THE PAIN AND HEARTBREAK OF LOSS. PLEASE HELP US BUILD THE WALL OF Remembrance.Let their life have ongoing meaning even when they are no longer with us. WE BELIEVE THAT BY MAKING THESE TRAGIC STORIES OF ADDICTION AVAILABLE TO OTHERS, IT CAN BE A SOURCE OF STRENGTH TO THOSE THAT MAY BE TEMPTED TO TRY JUST ONE "high". WE DESPERATELY NEED THOSE STORIES AND IF POSSIBLE, BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES POSTED TO USE AS A WARNING OF THE POWER THAT CAN OVERTAKE THOSE LIVES. WE DON'T REQUIRE NAMES, JUST INITIALS IF YOU PREFER. PLEASE E MAIL US THOSE STORIES . WITH YOUR HELP, WE WILL TRY TO MAKE KNOWN TO THOSE NOT YET ADDICTED, AS WELL AS THOSE THAT HAVE MADE THAT ONE BAD CHOICE, HOW IT CAN EFFECT THE FUNCTION OF THE BRAIN THAT MAKES IT SO DIFFICULT to OVERCOME THE URGE TO USE AGAIN. Each year we will choose a special story or experience of someone who may now be battling addiction or have suffered the lost of a loved one to release the doves of hope.
TO THOSE THAT ARE OVERCOMING ADDICTION, AND ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT NOW HAVE PUT THEIR ENERGIES TOWARD THOSE THAT NEED HELP, DIRECTION AND UNDERSTANDING, WE APPLAUD YOU AND WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR STORIES TO OFFER HOPE AND INSIGHT TO OTHERS.
